Phlox tumulosa

One reason I went to Hot Springs Hill was to find Phlox tumulosa. I think this is what I found in the meadow close to where the "road" ended and where I parked.

In James Locklear's book this is called Phlox griseola subspecies tumulosa. The foliage was very dense and hard to the touch.

Obviously from these pictures, you can see that the plants were past their peak. I didn't spend much time taking photos. The penstemon was a better subject for photography.

I imagine that it would be extremely difficult to collect seed.
